Amalie Robert Estate Vintage Update: 2022 Bud Break
Hello and Welcome,
Vintage 2022 bud break in the Wadenswil clone Pinot Noir.
Spring has sprung and the vines are in on the action. We saw the first signs of bud break Vintage 2022 on Julian calendar day 98, also known as Friday, April 8th. It was a lovely 75 degree bluebird day with the snow white cherry blossoms in full bloom. That is just one of those correlations that Mother Nature pulls off. And when you see the purple lilacs come out, that's when you will know the vines are in bloom.

They say old cherry orchards make for good vineyard sites, and this is why. If the cherry blossoms get frosted, there will be no cherries. And at the same time, the newly opened buds on the vines will also be frosted. But if the weather at bloom for the cherries is nice, then the newly opened buds will be safe. Success leaves clues, even in agriculture.
Beautiful day for Ernie to drill in cover crop with bud break starting and cherry trees blooming.
